The goal was to transform a fragmented internal network into a centralized, user-centric hub. By focusing on intuitive navigation and mobile responsiveness, we empowered field technicians and office staff to access critical documents and real-time updates instantly, fostering a more connected and efficient organizational culture.
Introduction
Traditional energy cooperatives often struggle with information silos between departments. This project focused on breaking those barriers by creating a "Single Source of Truth." We prioritized a clean, professional aesthetic that balances technical utility with a welcoming, community-focused feel suitable for a member-owned organization.
Challenges
The primary challenge was organizing decades of disparate data into a logical architecture. We needed to ensure that safety protocols and engineering manuals were as easy to find as company news, all while maintaining strict security standards. The design had to be high-performance enough to function in areas with limited connectivity for field crews.

Research & User Needs
Stakeholder interviews revealed that staff felt overwhelmed by the previous cluttered layout. We conducted user flow audits to identify the most frequent "path-to-task" actions. The result was a restructured mega-menu and a global search feature that reduced the time spent looking for documents by over 40%, directly improving operational uptime.
Scalability & Future-Proofing
Built with modular components, the new intranet allows for easy expansion as the cooperative grows. The design system includes custom icon sets and flexible grid layouts that accommodate varying content types, from video safety briefings to interactive maps, ensuring the platform remains relevant for the next decade of energy innovation.
Final Results
The launch resulted in a significant increase in daily active users and a marked decrease in internal IT support tickets related to document retrieval. By placing the needs of the employee at the center of the design process, we delivered a tool that doesn't just store information—it empowers the people who keep the lights on for the community.
